.“CONQUERING HERO”

Heard not your bugle charge,

Nor thundering hooves of your entry,

A subtle advance...nay...a barge,

One not suspected of noble gentry.

How futile was it to resist,

Your demand but an overwhelming desire,

To battle I chose to persist,

Knowing not I'd submit to the fire.

I planned and created my world,

With substance and fancy apart,

It was mine as I chose to unfurl,

Covert dominion of heart.

My kingdom forced to surrender,

The end of my reign over me,

Your power great but tender,

I gave in with nary a plea.

Now gone are days of mine,

Our council rules the land,

A mutual feeling sublime,

For we two are an inseparable band,

Free yes,...not that I am.
